COMMUNITY

a professional development project

COMMUNITY, a capacity-building initiative led by Urbanists Collective, was designed to bridge the gap between artistic talent and entrepreneurial sustainability. With support from the Cultural Pathways Award by the California Arts Council, in partnership with

Cien Ojos Studiothe COMMUNITY project equipped emerging artists with the tools to acquire business licenses and pursue professional opportunities. In addition, participants engaged in specialized creative career trainings that strengthened their knowledge of contracts, marketing, and resource development—laying the foundation for long-term success in the creative economy.

THE CHALLENGE

The Creative Economy Gap

Talented emerging artists often struggle to navigate the business side of their creative practice. Without proper training in entrepreneurship, marketing, and professional development, many artists remain unable to sustain their creative careers long-term. Art Places was designed to address this critical gap by providing comprehensive capacity-building support.
